How Hi-Res Audio And Music Brought A Revolution In Recent Years?

0

The present world has evolved into the space age. Technology has taken over every single field. The era industrial revolution started the conquest, and now technology has successfully conquered the world. Technology has introduced ease and comfort but also increased the demand for an even better quality of living. Marconi has brought the wave of audio technology into our lives through radio. And since then, the world has seen rapid growth in technology in audio and music. Remember the time when the audio quality of song recordings was shrill and hardly recognizable. The live performances used to sound much different than those CDs. Right now, the quality of audio and music has gone so up that when compared to its past forms, we get surprised.

Hi-resolution audio or popularly known as ‘hi-fi.’

In the recent few years, hi-res audio and music have gradually conquered the industry. With the production of hi-res compatible devices, streaming services, Smartphone, hi-fi or hi-res audio has become the mainstream in the audio industry. The world is digital, and it is worth adopting digitalization in the music experience. As mentioned above, technology has increased the demand for easy but better quality. And hi-res audio provides the exact definition of high-quality sound.

But before that, let us understand what exactly high-resolution audio is?

Hi-res audio and music is a technical term. It has become a marketing term for music companies where the particular audio has a high sampling frequency and high audio bit depth. The sampling frequencies are generally more than 44.1 kHz and higher than 16-bit audio depth, i.e. higher than a CD. Hence more the number of bits more is the accurate measurement of signals. Thus the leap from 16 bits of audio depth to 24 bits and evident frequency sampling of 96 kHz or 192 kHz is a great jump in music quality in CDs to High-resolution audio.

There are notable disadvantages to high-resolution audio and music

  • One of the major disadvantages is file size. A high-resolution audio file is generally ten megabytes in size, and only a few numbered files take the typical size of our storage. But now, the companies provide greater storage in devices at a cheap price to suffice the growing demands. But ultimately, it is a major disadvantage when it comes to playing the audio files supported by Wi-Fi and mobile data.
  • Another disadvantage is the variety of high-resolution audio file formats that are compatible with different devices individually. Various devices are compatible with the particular audio file format, and other file formats cannot be played on the device. It narrows down the spectrum of users as not everybody has an appropriate device to support the downloaded file format. Some of the popular audio file formats include FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec), ALAC (Apple Lossless Audio Codec), which are compressed, and the uncompressed file formats include WAV, AIFF, DSD and MQA (Master Quality authenticated). MQA is the most recently introduced file format.

The current world has developed into the space age. Innovation has assumed control over every field. Marconi has brought the influx of sound innovation into our lives through radio. Furthermore, from that point forward, the world has seen fast development in innovation in sound and music.
